Eye Measure Master (目分量職人): hit "just right" by eye, with no ruler and no scale

No ruler, no scale. Cut, pour and serve by eye alone. There are four tasks: cut a cake into 5 (ケーキを5等分), cut a pizza into 7 (ピザを7等分), serve a set weight of rice (ご飯を◯gよそう), pour a set amount of coffee (コーヒーを◯ml注ぐ). On a table drawn in 3D, you cut the cake with a knife, scoop rice with a paddle and pour coffee from a kettle. The closer to just right, the higher your points (out of 100), and your skill is ranked from 5th kyu to 10th dan in the "Eye Measure Test" (目分量検定). 31 hidden secrets are tucked away in the tasks, too.

Basic rules of Eye Measure Master

Pick a task from the menu. There are four: cut a cake into 5 (ケーキを5等分), cut a pizza into 7 (ピザを7等分), serve a set weight of rice (ご飯を◯gよそう), pour a set amount of coffee (コーヒーを◯ml注ぐ). Start with any of them and try as many times as you like.
On the cake and the pizza, the gold line at 12 o'clock is the first cut. Add the rest to cut 5 equal pieces (7 for the pizza). The error is the average of how far each piece is from the ideal size (20.0% for 5 pieces, 14.3% for 7).
For the rice, serve the target weight (120 to 250 g in steps of 5 g, new every play) into the bowl. The scale reads whole grams, and the error is how far off you are, divided by the target weight.
For the coffee, pour the target amount (120 to 300 ml in steps of 10 ml, new every play) into the glass. The glass reads whole millilitres, and the error works the same way as for the rice.
The time limits are 45 seconds for the cake, the pizza and the rice, 30 seconds for the coffee. Press "Cut" (切る), "Served" (よそった) or "Poured" (注いだ) within the time and your answer as it stands is judged. When the time runs out, your answer as it stands is judged too.
Points are 100 x (1 - error / 40%)^2, and an error of 40% or more scores 0 (50% for the rice and the coffee). For example, a cake with a 4.0% error scores 81 points. Your rank, from 5th kyu to 10th dan, comes from the points.

How to play on Asobi Lounge

Pick a task on the menu, read the explanation and press "Start" (はじめる). After "Ready" (用意), the clock starts.
Cake and pizza: trace outward from the centre over the cake or pizza to make a cut. Drag a line or its numbered marker to move it, and "Undo" (戻す) takes one back. When you are happy, press "Cut" (切る) (on a keyboard, Enter cuts and Backspace undoes).
Rice: the longer you hold "Scoop" (よそう), the more rice the paddle takes. Let go to drop it in the bowl. Too much? Hold "Less" (減らす) to put some back. When you are happy, press "Served" (よそった) (on a keyboard, Space or the up arrow scoops, the down arrow or Backspace takes back, Enter serves). The scale stays dark until you have served.
Coffee: the kettle tilts while you hold "Pour" (注ぐ) and eases off slowly when you let go; what flows after you let go goes in too. When you are happy, press "Poured" (注いだ) (on a keyboard, Space or the down arrow pours, Enter finishes). The glass shows no scale until you have poured.
The result shows the error, the points and the rank, with your personal best and how many tries you have made today. On the cake and the pizza, the exact cuts are laid over yours as gold lines. Tap to skip the finishing animation, and press "Again" (もう一度) to try once more right away.

Points and ranks (目分量検定)

Points depend on the error alone, and the smaller the error, the more each 1% matters. The cake and the pizza reach 0 points at a 40% error, the rice and the coffee at 50%: the harder a task is to judge by eye, the larger the error it allows. The rank comes from the points, and the top rank is 10th dan.

Records

Each task keeps your personal best, today's best (it starts over at 0:00 Japan time) and how many times you have tried. A try counts from the moment it starts. Between equal points the smaller error stays, and between equal errors the earlier record stays.

Records are saved in this browser, separately for each signed-in account. They do not move to other devices or browsers. There is no leaderboard.

The secret book and hidden secrets

31 hidden secrets are tucked away in the tasks. Find one and a scene of its own plays, and its name and a small picture of the moment go into the "Secret book" (ひみつ帳) on the menu. What sets them off is a secret. The ones you have not found yet show as "???".

You can share a secret you have found, with a picture of its scene. The share text and the picture hold only the name of the secret and how many you have found. The secret book is saved in this browser too.

Tips

On the cake and the pizza, place every cut first, then compare the pieces one by one and adjust: the error goes down.
The rice you see on the paddle is exactly what goes into the bowl. Near the target, add a little at a time with short presses.
The coffee keeps flowing for a moment after you let go. Let go a little before the target.
The time limits leave plenty of room. Take your time and look carefully before you decide.
Turn the sound on or off with the button at the top of the screen (this browser remembers it).
