Games against the CPU and solo modes work right away without signing in. Online play (random matches and private rooms) and saving stats or leaderboard scores require signing in with a Google account. To play with a friend, your friend also needs to create an account and register as your friend.

Quiz Battle modes

  • Solo (ひとりで): play against 3 CPUs (weak, normal or strong) or practice with no opponent. Your personal bests for correct answers, accuracy and how early you buzzed are recorded
  • Random Match (ランダムマッチ): a 10-question match with up to 6 players (CPUs join if not enough people gather)
  • Friend Room (フレンドルーム): the host sets the genres, difficulty, how to win, the miss rule and the reading speed, and can add CPUs

Basic rules of Quiz Battle

  • The question appears one character at a time. Only the first player to press the button can answer, and the question stops there.
  • You answer one character at a time, choosing from four options. Readings are in katakana, English in capital letters and numbers as digits. You have 6 seconds for the first character and 4 seconds for each one after that.
  • If you choose every character correctly to the end, you get 1 point. If you get even one character wrong or run out of time, it is a miss (お手つき): you cannot answer that question again, and the question continues for the other players.
  • The miss rule can be minus 1 point (random matches), locked out of that question only, or also sitting out the next question.
  • You can play for a set number of questions, or make it first to a target score, such as "first to 5 points". Ties are broken by the number of correct answers, then fewer misses, then who buzzed faster.

How to play on Asobi Lounge

  • Tap the buzzer (the Space key on a computer) to win the right to answer.
  • Choose each character of the answer from four options (on a computer you can also use the 1–4 keys).
  • To play with friends, create a room and share the ID, or invite them as friends (to invite a friend, they also need to create an account and register as your friend).

Tips

  • The key to a buzzer quiz is to press as soon as you are sure only one answer fits, even partway through the question.
  • Buzzing in a rush can cost you points for a miss, so reading on until you are confident is also a strategy.
  • On the results screen, Questions Asked (出題された問題) lets you review the answers and their readings.

Frequently asked questions

Can I choose question genres?
When playing solo and in friend rooms, you can choose as many of the 11 genres as you like. You can also choose the difficulty: easy, normal, hard or mixed.
Will a slow connection put me at a disadvantage?
Your buzz time is judged from how much of the question was showing on your screen and your connection delay, so you can compete fairly even from somewhat far away.
How many people can play?
Up to 6 per room. You can fill empty seats with CPUs.
Where are my personal bests saved?
Solo records are saved in this device's browser, separately for each opponent setting (practice or CPU strength).
Is Quiz Battle free to play?
Yes, it costs nothing. Games against the CPU and solo modes work right away without signing in. Online play (random matches and private rooms) and saving stats or leaderboard scores require signing in with a Google account. To play with a friend, your friend also needs to create an account and register as your friend.
